Who I am

My name is Gianluca, a 29 years old Italian native teacher, based in Izmir, Turkey. I offer Italian Language classes for all purpose, levels, and ages. My Italian Literature classes are aimed to more advanced students. My belief is that students have to enjoy their classes, in order to enhance their learning process.

My background

I have a background in Photography and Cinema, and my specialization is on the social media communication of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, a celebrity with a multicultural audience.

Latin and Ancient Greek were my classmates at High School. I’ve studied English, French, Portuguese, Russian and Turkish. This allows me to help people form different linguistic backgrounds and detect the root of their mistakes.

Experiences

My method is very unique and uses stories, articles and conversations to improve the learning experience of my students. I go more on details about it in “My method” page. I’ve helped more than 300 students with that! All of them had very different reasons to learn Italian: for their work, university, for fun or just to be able to understand Italian songs.

Here are some of my previous experiences. I’ve helped people to obtain an Italian certificate for the citizenship. A castle in the Loire Valley asked me to help its guides to interact with Italian customers. I helped a French student learn Italian before moving to Italy for college. An American employee of an Italian company came to me because she wanted to get to know more her colleagues in their mother tongue: languages are ways of being, before ways of communicating.

Mistakes are your friends

Many people worry about doing mistakes, and say “sorry”, or, even worse, loose their confidence. This won’t happen with me because I think we have to be thankful for our mistakes. They help us, they mean progress, therefore I don’t keep correcting my students, only when it ruins the communication. As the polyglot Steve Kauffman always repeats:

“the ability to notice is key”
